Each person’s journey towards therapy is different, and I congratulate you on taking the first step. I provide a welcoming, comfortable, and judgment-free environment where we collaborate to resolve your concerns at your own pace, with you as an active agent.
My therapeutic approach is equity-based, anti-oppressive, intersectional, and specially tailored to you. With a passion for the mind-body connection, I consider biological, psychological, and social factors in our work together. I use several treatment modalities and theoretical orientations in order to offer a holistic, humanistic, client-centered, trauma-informed approach. I draw on emotion-focused therapy (EFT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), mindfulness, existential therapy and other approaches. Goals vary but generally include some combination of attaining genuine happiness; reducing/resolving struggles; fulfillment and self-actualization; long-term growth; acceptance; and healing. Together, we will embark on a therapeutic journey that builds deep connections within yourself so that you may begin living more authentically and increase harmony with others.
Through my educational background and training, I have obtained the requisite knowledge and skills to provide clinical services. I hold a joint honours degree in Psychology and Sociology, with a certificate in Sexual and Gender Diversity from Queen’s University. I am completing a Master of Psychology degree at Adler Graduate Professional School in Toronto and practicing under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Rocha, a registered clinical and counselling psychologist. I am a student affiliate with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and the Canadian Psychological Association. I am working toward registration as a clinical and counselling psychologist, for I intend to obtain a doctorate after completing my current degree.
Thank you for being here. It is my goal to ensure you are seen, heard and understood. During our first meeting, we will explore your therapeutic needs and outline what you would like to work on, improve, or explore. From there, we will develop clear therapeutic goals to guide our sessions and inform treatment. I hope to have the privilege of working with you.
